Abstract (EN)

In its historical course, graffiti went through certain stages and evolution until it has reached its current modern form. It remained under the effect of design elements and made progress for a more modern way of expression. Graffiti, which was also under the influence of the modern movements during its evolution process, was affected by the techniques and styles of these movements. Expansion of the design elements has enabled the development and diversification of the patterns used also within graffiti. In this sense, illustration has become an inseparable part of graffiti and turned into a type of pattern frequently applied by the graffiti drawers in their drawings. Illustration has been used as a decorative and complimentary element in the necessary areas of the letter, script and character drawings within graffiti. Being a modern art of rebellion, graffiti has effectively used the expressive power of the illustration pattern as a message giver as well. Stylistic developments have been observed in typography and character drawing, and specific colors were used in drawings thanks to the varying color scale today. Color and stylistic developments increase the quality, originality, specificity and visuality of the study to be conducted. With the free usage of colors and styles, artists could express themselves and their art within the developed art of graffiti in a more detailed, unique and creative way. Graffiti, which had activities on the digital media, has played a role as a sketch book of the artist. At the same time, works of today's graffiti artists, information about them and their expressions related to themselves are also stated in the thesis.
