Relation between the job satisfaction and burnout levels of wrestling coaches

This study aims to detect the levels of occupational burnout and job satisfaction of the wrestling coaches certified by the Turkish Wrestling Federation, to compare them by demographic variables and to determine the correlation between them. The study, which used relational screening model, applied to 299 voluntary coaches the Maslach Burnout Inventory developed by Maslach and Jackson (19821) and adapted to Turkish by Ergin (1992) and the Job Satisfaction Scale developed by Kuzgun, Aydemir and Hamamcı (1999). For the statistical evaluation of the research data, the study employed frequency, percentage distribution, independent two-sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance for multiple groups, and Pearson correlation analysis. In the difference tests, the significance level (p) was taken as 0.05. The results of the research demonstrated that the coaches' occupational burnout was at moderate level and job satisfaction at high level. Comparisons by demographic variables showed that the burnout and satisfaction levels increased as the age and total duration as a coach increased. Besides, a moderate negative correlation was found between the respondents' job satisfaction levels and burnout levels.
