Architectural branch of The Academy of Fine Arts examination of Internal Architecture Courses Through The Nazımî Yaver Yenal Lecture Archive

The purpose of the thesis study is to determine how the transfer of elaborative information, which is an important part of architectural education, is created and processed in the curriculum of the Academy of Fine Arts in the light of documents obtained from the Nazimî Yaver Yenal lecture archive. The fact that Nazimî Yaver Yenal is both a student and a teacher of the Academy of Fine Arts has led to the approach to the institution from its first establishment to the period covered by the course archive within the scope of the dissertation. Considering that architectural education is fed by the social conditions of the period and the architectural environment, the social, cultural, political and architectural environment in the Ottoman Empire and Turkey were discussed at the first stage of the thesis. The study is carried out by focusing on the ideas of westernization and modernization because of the fact that Nazimî Yaver Yenal adopted a modern point of view despite the neo-classical education he received. In this context, the changes that the Sanayi-i Nefise School has altered since the first day of its establishment and the social processes that have triggered these changes have been examined. In the third part, the breakdown of the course archive, which constitutes the context of the study, is carried out. In this general breakdown, not only folders based on knowledge of making, but the entire archive is covered. Content breakdown and numerical data of each volume are included with tables. In the fourth section, which is the last stage of the thesis; in the light of the period research carried out in the first stage, the data of the volumes on knowledge of construction selected from the archive were evaluated. In this assessment, the effects of Nazimî Yaver Yenal's personal life, the transformation of the Ottoman Empire into the Republic of Turkey, the ideological changes in the architectural understanding and the modern architecture movement are significant.
