Evaluation of the opinions of faculty of Fine Arts painting department students on performance art

Performance Art: It is a more planned, theatrical and sometimes text-based form of art that became widespread in the 1970s as a follower of the art approach of the 1960s. It is thought that the popularity of performance art, which was founded in the 1910s and is widely seen today, is effectively unknown. For this reason, in this research, it was tried to determine the opinions of the students of the painting department of the faculty of fine arts about performance art. A general screening model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research, and opinions about the importance of performance art are dependent; Gender, age, and educational status were assumed to be independent variables. Five-point Likert scale developed to collect data; It was applied to the students of Hacettepe University, Hacı Bayram Veli University, Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculties Painting Department. The survey consists of three parts; In the first part, there are questions to determine the demographic information of the people participating in the research, in the second part, students' thoughts about performance art, and in the third part, there are questions to determine the students' opinions about the importance of performance art. When the answers to the questions aimed at determining student opinions about performance art are examined; It was determined that the 18-25 age group heard about performance art earlier, that performance art was not included in undergraduate/graduate education, and that the participants thought that performance art should be a separate department. The relationship between the answers given by the data sources to the second part and the demographic information of the data sources was investigated statistically. Statistically significant differences were found between age groups in terms of answers to questions 1, 3 and 6. In addition, there was a difference between the education levels of the participants in terms of hearing about performance art for the first time in their undergraduate education and gaining knowledge about the history of performance art. In line with these data, it is recommended that educational programs be constantly updated to increase students' awareness of all disciplines of art, taking into account the passing time and developing conditions. This study, which was carried out with the participation of students of the painting department of fine arts faculties, can be repeated with students of the painting department of fine arts high schools.
