Abstract (EN)

This study offers an engaging examination of the diverse historical relations between Abyssinia and the Ottoman Empire, covering the period of transformation from the 16th to the 19th century. Focusing on unraveling the complex fabric of cultural and diplomatic dynamics, the research delves deep into the geopolitical landscape, diplomatic relations, cultural exchanges and economic ties that defined the interaction between these two regions. Beginning with an analysis of the strategic importance of Abyssinia and the Ottoman Empire in the context of global trade and power dynamics, the study adopts a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on a rich array of primary sources. Diplomatic relations take center stage as the research examines the agreements, alliances, conflicts and key personalities that shaped the course of Abyssinian -Ottoman relations. An important aspect of the research is the study of cultural exchanges that reveal the profound influence of each region on the art, language, religion and social norms of the other. The study reveals the common influences and unique developments that have emerged as a result of this cross-cultural fertilization and to develop a unique enrich our understanding. Economic ties constitute another critical dimension of the research and shed much light on trade routes, commerce and their mutual impact on the economic landscapes of both Abyssinia and the Ottoman Empire is holding it. By revealing the economic underpinnings of their relationship, the study illuminates the mutual benefits and challenges these regions faced in their commercial endeavors. This in-depth research, in essence, contributes significantly to our understanding of the historical relations between Abyssinia and the Ottoman Empire. Weaving together the threads of diplomacy, culture and trade, it provides a nuanced perspective on the interwoven history that shaped the socio-cultural and geopolitical landscapes from the 16th to the 19th centuries. This research not only illuminates the past, but also enriches our understanding of the enduring legacies shaped through centuries of dynamic interaction between Abyssinia and the Ottoman Empire.
