Examination of Halide Edip Adivar's Döner Ayna Akile Hanim Sokaği and Handan novels by method of discourse analysis

Most of the female characters of Halide Edip Adıvar's novels are the ones uninterested and cheated by their husbands, living an unhappy life. The women created by the author are intellectual, educated individuals who are of the problems they are experiencing. Additionally, due to the period of author's life as the witness to many political and social matters of both Ottoman State and Turkish Republic, it can be realized that she had formed the heroes or heroers of the novels, the characters as advocating a particular ideology, criticizing the system they are opposing as being the responsible individuals of the system they are representing. We, in our thesis, had brought out with the reasons and results, the jealousy and doubt discourses of the inner monologues and dialogues of the novel characters, by analyzing the expressions they used directly or indirectly. Also, political and critical expressions basis and their results they brought out, the real message behind the text is explained with referance to content of individual and system
