II SUMMARIZE THE THESIS OF POSTGRADUATE THE STUDY OF HALIT ZIYA USAKLIGIL' S NOVELS IN THE V±EW OF THEME ESMA DUMANLI KADI ZADE FIRAT UNIVERSITY THE ENSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES MAIN BRANCH OF TURKISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE 2004, PAGE: 138 In this study we aimed to investigate a master writer of our literature, Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil's novels in theme. In the first part of our thesis which is made of two parts, novels of Halit Ziya is introduced in the basis of their identity topic and plot. By means of the first part, investigation of the second part is supported. In the second part of our study the novels of Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil have been investigated in theme. In the novels the themes such as: love, desertion, envy, pessimism, death, degeneration have been fixed and these themes have been appreciated according to their importance level. The themes and the topics in the novels take us to the most successful writer of his time. Halit Ziya is not only of his time but also guide of following time.
