Abstract (EN)
Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil is re-read with his thoughts on philosophy while working on his novels. Idealist and materialist arguments construct conflicts at the center of the novels. Novel characters, events, situations, spaces, objects used, in accordance with the dialectical laws, thesis and antithesis junction is transferred in the center of infrastructure and superstructure. Materialist elements are found in the texts with the concepts of consumption, loyalty to goods, fetishism, which emerged on the basis of economic characteristics and under the name of new materialism under the influence of the historical materialism of Marx and Engels. In particular, materialist concepts are in constant interaction with each other. The existence of one necessitates the emergence of other concepts directly. Therefore, the concept of objectification of labor in characters brings along the problem of alienation, private property and freedom. Idealism, on the other hand, is handled in two dimensions with both idealized characters and negative perception of ideal.
