Professions names in Kharezm – Kipchak Turkish

This study was created in order to determine the names of professions in the works included in the period of Kharezm-Kipchak Turkish. In this direction, 31 works were scanned, the names of the professions in these works were determined and the professions were tried to be classified according to their fields of occupation. In the introduction part of the study, the theoretical framework of the thesis is drawn. In the sections of Kharezm region and Kharezm Turkish and Kipchaks and Kipchak Turkish, information about the region was tried to be given and the work written during the period was mentioned. In the third section, which forms the basis of the thesis, the names of professions identified in the works of Kharezm-Kipchak Turkish were determined and a classification was tried to be made according to their occupation fields. The names of the professions are divided into 22 subheadings. These subheading are the names of the professions are in themselves, names of professions related to animal care and animal nutrition, names of professions related to hunting, names of professions related to agriculture, names of professions related to artisans and craftsmen, names of professions related to mines and precious stones, names of professions related to trade, names of professions related to finance, names of professions related to transportation and transportation, names of professions related to communication and, names of profession related to education, training and culture, names of professions related to science, names of professions related to religion, names of professions related to health, names of professions related to magic, fortune-telling and divination, names of professions related to justice, names of professions related to security, names of professions related to management and administrative affairs, names of professions related to the service, names of professions related to sports, names of professions related to begging, names of related to entertainment and names of professions related to illegitimate. While making this classification, the studies related to the profession names have been examined and appropriate titles have been given to the study in this direction. At the same time, the data detected under each section are supported by tables and graphs. In the examined words, it has been determined that 559 different profession names are mentioned in 6503 places. In the fourth part of the study, the index of the identified proession names is given. In the conclusion section of the study, a general assessment was made of the profession names in the scanned works. It is thought that this thesis will contribute to the vocabulary of the Turkish language in terms of profession names.
