Abstract (EN)

Hospital infections ( HI ) as well as all over the world continues to be a major health problem in our country. Because caused by morbidity, mortality and causes huge economic losses due to the length of hospital stay. Hospital infections can be prevented proper control and application programs considerably. This is the beginning of practice hand hygiene is the most effective and economical factors. The importance of hand hygiene in the 19th century, Europe was first understood. However, after the 1970s, there has been serious efforts in this regard. In Turkey, the Ministry of Health through the active efforts of hospital infections at the end of 2004, combined with previous studies with national policy was made permanent.Hand hygiene is the most effective method of prevention of nosocomial infections. Informing and educating health professionals are often required in this regard. Because the micro-organisms that cause infection via the hands of health care workers easily carried anywhere. Many scientific studies of hand washing, done correctly, stand-alone reduce hospital infections reported at least 30%. In addition, mask and cap installation, isolation precautions, such as wearing gowns play an important role in the prevention of nosocomial infections. The main aim of infected patients or contaminated objects transmitted hands to prevent the passage of microorganisms to other patients. Prepared for infection control programs in preventing nosocomial infections, surveillance studies are carried out and the specific standards created. However, they are not sufficient. Training of health personnel in these matters, the adoption of information and the application should be active.
