Abstract (EN)
Objective: The research was carried out as a descriptive study in order to determine the level of compliance of the health personnel working in the Van Regional Training and Research Hospital with isolation measures to prevent nosocomial infections and to develop recommendations in line with the results. Materials and Methods: The population of the study consisted of 150 volunteer health workers working in Van Regional Training and Research Hospital. The research was carried out between December 2020 and July 2021. The research data were collected by using a questionnaire formed by using different literatures and the "Scale of Adaptation to Isolation Precautions" developed by Tayran. In the first part of the survey; There are questions about personal information, hospital infections and compliance with isolation measures, and the determination of the cognitive level of healthcare workers. In the second part, there is the "Scale of Compliance with Isolation Precautions". Results: The findings obtained as a result of the study were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 program. Descriptive statistics were given as frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, mean and ± standard deviation. ANOVA and Independent Groups T-Test were used in the analysis of the data. The findings were concluded by discussing in the light of literature information. Healthcare workers have a high level of compliance with isolation measures to prevent nosocomial infections. Gender, marital status, duty, education level, years of work in the profession, having sufficient knowledge about nosocomial infections and isolation precautions, believing that nosocomial infections can be controlled with education, the type of isolation they apply in the unit they work, their ability to reserve an isolation room, the health personnel's role in the spread of nosocomial infections. It has been determined that the state of believing that it has an effect and believing that hand hygiene is effective in preventing infections affects compliance with isolation measures. Age, from whom/where they received the training on hospital infections, and the presence of patients in isolation were considered as variables that had no effect on compliance with isolation precautions. The most significant of the sub-dimensions of the scale is in the dimensions of environmental control and transmission route. Cognitive levels of hospital health workers about patient isolation measures are high. The most common problem when applying isolation measures is that patients and their relatives pose a problem to healthcare professionals in applying isolation measures, while the least experienced problem is the inability to distinguish the isolated patient from the normal patient. Conclusion: Regarding compliance with isolation measures for healthcare workers; It is recommended that all trainings given on an institutional basis and all trainings taken personally should be repeated at regular intervals with up-to-date information, observations should be made at regular intervals by the necessary authorities, and improvement activities should be started for all negative situations affecting the business and operation.
