Internal evaluation for comliance of the aircraft maintenance organizations for JAR 145 and ISO 9000/2000 standarts

Civil Aviation Management Program Advisor: Assistant Professor Deniz TAŞÇI The Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) is an associated body of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) representing the civil aviation regulatory authorities of a number of European States who have agreed to co-operate in developing and implementing common safety regulatory standards and procedures. JAA issue Joint Aviation Requirements (JAR) and related administrative documents to ensure high and coherent safety standards and make competent more equitable in Europe. Main object for issuing JAR 145 which explains the requirements for aircraft maintenance organizations by the JAA is ensure high quality standards on aircraft maintenance operations. Acceptance of total quality management ISO 9000 Management Systems by the aircraft maintenance organizations is the appropriate approach to ensure JAR 145 requirements and to reach high quality standards, has been suggested in this study. According to this approach an internal evaluation model has been developed to evaluate aircraft maintenance organizations accordance with JAR 145 requirements and total quality management principles under ISO 9000 Management Systems. Developed internal evaluation model has been carried out in Anadolu University Civil Aviation School Aircraft Maintenance Organization as an example case.
