Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between time management and stress management skills of Preparatory School Students. The study sample consisted of 325 students (191 female and 134 male students) attending Yeditepe University Preparatory School in 2012 academic year. The research instrument for collecting data was a questionnaire. Time Management Scale and Stress Management Scale were used to gather data. Time Management Inventory was developed by Britton and Tesser, and adapted in Turkish by Seher í§can(2008). Stress management Inventory was developed by Pa§a(2007). The data obtained from the research were analyzed by SPSS. The findings of the questionnaire were analyzed by using such techniques as standard deviation, t-test, Pearson Moments Correlation and the analysis of variance (ANOVA). P < 0.05 was considered significant. The results of the study are as in the following:There was a significant correlation between time management and psychological factors, a significant negative correlation between perceived stress and coping with stress, psychological factors and physiological factors and a significant positive correlation between psychological factors, physiological factors, and coping with stress.Gender had a significant effect on coping with stress and psychological factors, duration of education at preparatory school had a significant effect on perceived stress, psychological factors and physiological factors, level of English had a significant effect on time management, age had a significant effect on perceived stress, coping with stress and physiological factors and type of accommodation had a significant effect on coping with stress.There was a significant negative relation between coping with stress and perceived stress. Younger students, i.e. those aged 17-18 years and 18-19 years thought to experience significantly lower levels of stress. The students aged 17-18 years and 18-19 years received significantly higher scores for coping with stress, psychological factors and physiological factors than those aged 20-21 years (p<0.5).At the end of the study, the findings were discussed and recommendations were presented.Key Words: Time Management, Stress Management, University, Student.
