Heidegger's question of being and qritique of Kant's metaphysics

In this thesis the Western metaphysical tradition and Kant's metaphysics are examined within the framework of Heidegger's question of Being. His philosophical discourse aims to explore how being exists as content integrity and becomes the inspection subject of human experience. According to Heidegger, being reveals through the temporal existence of human beings. At the same time he claims that within the metaphysical tradition, the temporality of existence has been neglected and overlooked. Kant comes to near the understanding of existence as temporality, but he ultimately withdraws from fully embracing temporal existence to maintain the possibility of objectivity. In the first chapter of this study, at first within the context of the question of Being criticisms of metaphysical tradition are made through the concepts of Dasein, phenomenology and aletheia. In the second chapter, Heidegger's reading of Kant's Critique of Pure Reason and his assertion that it to be considered as fundamental ontology are investigated. The third chapter of this search is devoted to Heidegger's notion of Dasein as opposed to metaphysical subject is explicated in terms of being-in-the-world and temporality. In the last chapter, Heidegger's interpretation of Kant is evaluated. After all is said and done, this study demonstrates that authentic existence is only possible within the temporal apprehension of being as Heidegger expounded his evaluations upon metaphysics and in his interpretation of Kant.
