Abstract (EN)
The tradition of Helesa, which is a tradition that existed before Islam, is a tradition that has survived to the present day by undergoing changes with the acceptance of Islam. Mani, which has been trying to survive through traditions since the Ottoman period, has also been the focal point in the Helesa Tradition in terms of telling what is desired. For this reason, it is important to examine the manias in more detail in terms of acquiring new information by establishing a relationship with Turkish culture. The aim of this study is to obtain information about the importance of the mani in Turkish culture by examining the mani performed during the practice of the Helesa tradition, which emerged in the province of Sinop and is still in existence. This research is a descriptive field research designed with a qualitative method. A case study was used as a qualitative research design in the research. In this context, the data were obtained by literature review and interview method. As a result of the research, it has been revealed that the Helesa tradition instills solidarity and unity in the society, and the feeling of cooperation and unity is transmitted from generation to generation through manias.
