Abstract (EN)
Objective: H. Pylori bacteria is a gram negative spiral bacteria which is an agent of chronical gastrit and peptic ulcer and also is thought to be responsible for growth of MALT lymphoma and stomach cancer. Genetic and environmental factors are known to be important agents for H. Pylori infection. Yet the searches that are made about the relations between nutrition routine, smoking, alcohol and the positivity of H. Pylori are still contradictory and continues to be unknown. Therefore the reason of this study is to tell the effects of changes in the nutrition and life styles of patients who take H. Pylori eradication at gastroenterology polyclinic to H. Pylori eradication. Methods: It was planned to include all of the patients who take eradication treatment for H. Pylori infection between January 2010 and April 2010 at Dokuz Eylül University Medicine Faculty Gastroenterology Science Department to the study. It was seen that 242 patients were given eradication between these dates. We could reach 124 of 242 patients. For the first step we called all the patients and wanted them to come to the hospital. Detailed phone discussions were made with the patients who couldn't come to hospital. The patients who applied to hospital were evaluated with the use of a standard form (attach 1) after they had taken informed consents. The patients who were interviewed by the phone were also evaluated with the same standard form. The changes at nutrition and life styles of the patients were examined in the forms. Results: 124 patients (66 women; 58 men; average age of the patients 50, 8 ± 13, 7) were interviewed face to face at the polyclinic or with the phone. The avarage BMI (body maiss index) of the patients were 27 ± 4,4. In the statistical evaluation that was made, eradication number was found higher for the women meaningfully (p=0,038). Reinfection was found higher for men in a statistically meaningful way (p=0,025). We could not find a correlation between stress, exercise, marital status socioeconomical level, alternative medicine support and H. pylori infection. We found out the fact that the increase at the consumption of yoghurt, cheese, onion-garlic, green vegetable, apple, prunus dornestica and other fruits affected the success of H. pylori eradication in a positive way and it was compatible with the literature (respectively p=0,002; p=0,003; p=0,019; p=0,035 and p=0,01). When the consumption of alcohol of the patients was examined we also detected in a statistically meaningful way that the success of the H. pylori eradication increased at the patients who drank 9 cc raki at least in 15 days (p=0,001). We didn?t determine a meaningful relation between H. pylori eradication and the consumption of beer, wine, other alcoholic beverages, tea, coffee, citrus fruits and fruit juices. We discovered that the consumption of cigarette and red meat affected H. pylori eradication in a negative way (respectively p=0,044 and p=0,027).Conclusion: We found out compatibly with the literature that consumption of nutritions which are related to Mediterranean such as yoghurt, cheese, onion-garlic, green vegetable, apple, prunus dornestica and other fruits affect the success of H. Pylori eradication in a positive way. A strange point was that we also found out in a statistically meaningful way that the success of H, pylori eradication increased at the patients who consumed raki. We could not find a correlation between the H. pylori infection and stress, exercise, socioeconomical level and marital status. The consumption of cigarette and red meat were detected as factors that affected the H. pylori eradication in a negative way.Key Words: Helicobacter Pylori, changes at nutrition and life style.
