Abstract (EN)

Stroke, whose freguency is increasing almost in all socitiest, is an important disorder which can cause high health expenses, disabilities and deaths. With stroke, many other complications can be seen. One of those complications is impaired pulmonary function. . The aim of the research is to determine the respiratory problems of stroke patients and to research relationship between stroke and the other clinic condition . On the purpose of analysing respiratory functions of patients who had stroke previously, 30 patients who applied Diyarbakır Dicle university physical therapy and rehabilitation department for research.30 healty people who has similar demographic features were include into research as a control group Age, height, weight, affected extremity, dominant extremity, hospitalization duration in intense care, smoking duration and smoking amount were recorded for each patient. Breast girth was measured by measuring tape, during deep inspirium from axillary epigastric and deep insprium and deep exprium beck depression beck anxiety and bartel's indepandence scales were applied. Respiratory tests were done to all cases by the brand and model of fukuda sangyo ST-300. In spite of all respiratory tests of control group measured in normal limits, sever obstructive and restrictive lung dysfunction was found in all hemiplegic patients. Hemiplegic patients when compared with control group has significant difference in the value of SVC, FVC, FEV1, FEV3, FEV1/FVC, PEF, MVV. When compared with control group, hemiplegic patients has much more high value of depression and anxiety. Breast expansion of hemiplegic patients were found less than control group. Positive correlation was found between respiratory functions of patients, Beck anxiety and Bartel independence scales. Freequently, hemiplegic patients has respiratory dysfunction. Patients that have less mobility independence and more anxiety has significantly worse respiratory values. Because of this pulmonary function tests should be considered at the beginning of the rehabilitation process and be added into rehabilitation process.
