Abstract (EN)

Objective: To evaluate whether the training given by the nurse has an impact on the level of knowledge about blood pressure control and hypertension in hypertensive patients. Material and Method: The study group consisted of 80 patients with hypertension who were followed up at the health center. The patients were divided into two groups as 40 interventions and 40 control groups. Training was given to the intervention group on hypertension and management. Two patients were interviewed two months after the first interview. The patient identification form and the Hypertension Knowledge Level Scale (HBDÖ) were used as data collection tools. Chi-square, t-test, ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis analyzes were used for statistical analysis. Results: 46% of hypertensive patients with a mean age of 60.5 ± 10.3 years were women. In the first interview, the mean scores of HBSS were 16.05 ± 3.10 in the control group and 17.30 ± 2.74 in the intervention group. In the last interview, the mean scores of HBSS were 19,30 ± 1,73 in the control group. In the first interview, while the mean scores of HBSS were similar in the control and intervention group, the mean scores of the intervention group were higher in the last interview compared to the control group. In both groups, although the last interview was higher in the HBDQ scores compared to the first interview, this increase was higher in the intervention group. No significant difference was observed in blood pressure levels in both groups at the first and last meeting. Conclusıons: According to this, it can be said that the training given by the nurse to the patients with hypertension is not effective in controlling blood pressure, but is effective in increasing the level of knowledge about hypertension. Key words: Hypertension, Hypertension Knowledge Level Scale, education.
