Abstract (EN)

The nature of the nursing profession requires intensive communication and service with one-to-one human relations. For this reason, nurses have a high risk of burnout and compromising patient safety with the effect of burnout. In this context, this study was conducted to determine the levels of burnout and nursing safety of nurses and to determine the relationship between them. The universe of the study, all the nurses working in the hospital; 100 volunteers participated in the study. Data collection tools consist of "Socio-Demographic Questionnaire", "Maslach Burnout Scale" and "Patient Safety Culture Scale". The number of surveys is 100. PASW Statistics 18 for Windows statistical package was used. When evaluating the study data, Kolmogorov - Smirnov dispersion test was used for descriptive statistical methods (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation) as well as normal distribution. If all the scale scores did not have normal distribution, non-parametric statistical methods were preferred. In case of two groups, Mann Whitney U test was used to compare the parameters between groups. In case of more than two groups, Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare the parameters between groups. Spearman Correlation Analysis was used to examine the relationship between the scales. According to the findings; there was no significant difference between burnout and gender, marital status, educational status, having children, working unit, weekly working hours and seniority. There was no difference between patient safety culture and gender, marital status, educational status, having children, working unit and weekly working hours however there was a difference between seniority. According to these results, senior nurses are more careful about patient safety.
