Abstract (EN)

The study was designed as a descriptive study to determine the attitudes of nurses to prevent pressure ulcers. The sample of the study consisted of 131 nurses working in a private hospital in Istanbul between November 2017 and January 2018, who agreed with the research criteria and agreed to participate in the research. "Attitude Towards Pressure Ulcer Prevention Instrument" was applied. The data by the statistical experts on computer, were analyzed using the program of IBM SPSS Statistics 24 (IBM SPSS, Turkey). When the data were evaluated in the study, descriptive statistical methods (Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard deviation) and Kolmogorov - Smirnov distribution test were used to examine the normal distribution.. Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test and Spearman correlation analysis were used for statistical analysis. In the study, the constant Attitudes Towars Pressure Ulcer Prevention Instrument reliability coefficient was found as 0,610. The work areas of nurses in the study: %16,8 (n=22) Intensive Care Unit, 18,3% (n = 24), %6,9 (n=9) Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit, %18,3 (n=24) Oncology Service, 42% (n = 55) Surgical Service and %16 (n=21) Internal Disease Servise. In the study, 54.2% (n = 71) of the nurses were found to have received training in pressure ulcers after graduation, and 61.1% (n = 80) of the nurses were "frequently" met with patients with pressure ulcers. It was found that the Attitudes Towards Pressure Ulcer Prevention Instrument scale scores of the nurses who always met with the pressure ulcer were higher (p <0.05). It was determined that the post-graduate education for pressure ulcers and the duration of the training did not affect the attitude to prevent pressure ulcers (p> 0,05). The relationship between sociodemographic characteristics of nurses and Attitudes Towards Pressure Ulcer Prevention Instrument scale scores was not statistically significant (p> 0,05).
