Abstract (EN)

This descriptive study, which was conducted to determine the career problems of nurses and the factors affecting them, was carried out with 233 nurses working in Seyhan State Hospital in Adana city center and volunteering to participate in the study. In the study, the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher and the "Career Problems Scale in Nursing" developed by Çavmak, Atalay and Söyler in 2019 were used. All necessary permissions and ethics committee approval were obtained for the research. Verbal consent was obtained from the participants. In the study, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be 0.872 in the total scale and 0.740 and above in the sub-dimensions, and the results were found to be highly reliable. SPSS package program was used in the statistical analysis of the data in the study. In the evaluation of the data, number and percentage were used in categorical measurements, and mean, standard deviation, minimum-maximum were used in continuous measurements. Kolmogorov Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests, student t-test, ANOVA analysis were used. Significance levels were taken as 0.05 in all tests. Of the nurses participating in the study, 77.3% were women, 52.8% were married, 54.9% of them do not have children, 71.7% had undergraduate education, and 45.9% preferred nursing. There are job opportunities, 38.2% of them have 0-5 years of professional experience, 86.3% are clinical nurses, 59.7% work on a duty basis, 70% choose the unit they work voluntarily, and 79% It has been determined that 's likes the unit he works in. As a result of the study, it was determined that the participants mostly experienced their career problems in the sub-dimension of stress and burnout. It has been observed that some of the variables of the participants regarding the individual and working environment have an impact on career problems. It has been determined that the status of the nurses' liking for the unit they work directly affects their career problems. It was observed that the nurses in charge experienced the problem of dual career less than the service nurses. Working in shifts and shifts increases the stress and burnout, organizational pressure and occupational incompatibility problems in nurses. It has been concluded that nurses who cannot provide holistic care due to their workload experience all career problems. Keywords: Nurse, career, career problems
