Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study is done to identify social dominance orientation of nurses and its relation with organizational trust. Material and Method: The study which is analytical and cross-sectional is conducted in March – May 2018. The population consists of 298 nurses who work in Çiğli Region Training and Research Hospital and the research sample was 219 nurses and nurse managers. No sampling method was used and all the nurses and nurse managers who accepted to be in the research was reached, then face to face meeting is conducted. Personal Information Form, Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) and Organizastional Trust Inventory (OTI) were use to collect data. In data analysis, percentages, scales' sub-dimension averages and standart deviations are calculated. Cronbach's alpha values are checked and correlation analysis is done between the two scale values. To identify the relation between nurses'demographical information and scale values, chi-square and Mann – Whitney U test are done. Findings: Nurses' total SDO scale value was found 50,18±16,91. When the OTI scale values are examined, trust on manager point was found 3,96±1,08; trust on the institution was found 3,25±1,15 and the trust on co-workers was found 4,54±0,84. While no significant relation found between social dominance orientation and reliance on the manager&reliance on the co-workers; it is found that there is a significant correlation between trust on the institution (r=,151, p<0,05). Conclusion and Recommendations: It has been found that nurses' social dominance orientations were mid-level and when age and the educational level increase, so does the SDO scale values. Expectedly, the analyses was showed higher values for social dominance orientation in man nurses than in woman nurses. Nurses' OTI scale scores were lower than the researches in the literature and it has been seen that nurses trusted their co-workers more then they did their institution.
