Abstract (EN)

The present study entitled "Poetry in Cordoba in the Vth/Xlth Century comprises the period covering the final times of the Andalus Omayyad Caliphate and the rule of Cahvar family in Cordoba. The study is composed of an introduction and two chapters, in the introduction, the following are dealt with in their main points: The political, social and intellectual background of Andalus in the given century, and the development of poem from the conquest of Andalus to the Vth/Xlth century. The first chapter studies the themes expressed in the poems; love poetry, eulogy, satire, lamentation, description, complaint, mercy and letters. Also, the phases that these had taken in the Arabic literature before coming to Andalus. The second chapter focuses on the language in the poems and literary arts, and pays attention to the points where the poets were influenced by the old usage of the language or the uses made due to the influence of the environment. Meter and rhyme were also investigated, identifying the commonly used types of meter and rhyme, and the mistakes made in this respect by the poets were pointed out. Significant discoveries resulting from all these investigations were enumerated in the conclusion. X O©
