Abstract (EN)

The natural relationship between the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the Qur'an, requires resorting to divine revelation as the first source to recognize the Prophet's personality traits. Because, the Qur'an is the most reliable source that gives first-hand information about the Prophet. On the other hand, the Prophet has a personality integrated and identified with divine messages in terms of being both the first addressee and representative of the Qur'an. The determined and consistent personality of the Prophet (al-Amin) before the prophethood was refined with the moral principles of the Qur'an and elevated him to the rank of 'usve-i hasene'. Although personality theories come to different conclusions in terms of their approaches, they are united in the idea that 'personality is consistent and continuous/steady behaviors and attitudes'. Matching the definition of personality with the historical reality of the Prophet in the sources of the sirah provides us with the necessary conceptual framework and infrastructure to portray the profile of the prophet in the Qur'an. This authentic feature of the Prophet's personality is proof that he can be used as a criterion for textual criticism in understanding the hadith/sunnah. This principle, which we have described as the 'Criterion of Personality', is aimed at understanding and making sense of the words and practices of the Prophet, like other text criticism criteria. In this respect, the personality criterion has a nature that confirms other criteria and contributes in cases where they are insufficient. The feature of this criterion, unlike other criteria, is to evaluate the point of view and value judgment on which the narrations are based, rather than particular specific narrations. The distinctive feature of this criterion that will contribute to the Hadith literature is the psychological and philosophical approach to determining the historical reality of the Prophet and what kind of nature he had in reality, based on the Qur'an. Keywords Qur'an, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Hadith, Personality, Personality Criterion
