Ibn Abidin's contributions to usûl al-fiqh (In the context of Nasamat al-ashar)

Ibn Ābidīn, who lived at the end of the classical period and just before modernism, is an important figure who wrote various works on fiqh and usûl al-fiqh. Ibn Ābidīn, who was a strict follower of the Hanafī madhhab, wrote a gloss on usûl al-fiqh, Nesemāt al-ashār, which can be said to be the product of a rich procedural acquaintance, if the emergence of the text and commentary from which it emerged is taken into account. In the first chapter of this thesis, which was prepared in three parts, the history of the formation of Hanafī usûl and the basic procedural parameters of the madhhab were touched upon in the most general terms in order to provide a basis for the subject. In the second part, it was deemed appropriate to briefly mention the text of Menāru al-anwār and its commentary, Imādāt al-anwār, and their authors, since they are the central works of the commentary in question. Since the intertwined genres of text, commentary and gloss cannot be evaluated independently of each other, basic information and determinations about these three genres of writing, which are among the main types of writing in the science of fiqh, are included. In the third and final chapter, after a brief introduction about Ibn Ābidīn and his work, the author's contributions to the science of usûl in the field of glosses are tried to be revealed with examples.
