Abstract (EN)

This research examines the life and contributions to the field of hadith by Ibn al-Labbān, a scholar originally from Siirt who lived in Damascus and Cairo. Ibn al-Labban's primary contribution to hadith studies lies in the interpretation of ambiguous (mutashabih) hadiths. His most significant work in this domain is Izalat al-Shubuhat ʿan al-Ayat wa al-Ahadith al-Mutashabihat, which focuses on clarifying these ambiguous hadiths. Therefore, our study not only explores Ibn al-Labban's life and his place in hadith scholarship but also concentrates on this particular work. Mutashabih hadiths, which are difficult to understand at first glance and require deep interpretation, play a critical role in reaching reliable knowledge in Islamic sciences. The correct understanding and interpretation of these hadiths have attracted the intense interest of scholars throughout history. This study examines Ibn al-Labbān's approach to understanding and interpreting mutashabih hadiths and the principles he established. By following the methods of previous scholars, Ibn al-Labban developed unique principles for understanding these hadiths. This research aims to determine Ibn al-Labban's place in hadith scholarship and to contribute significantly to the correct interpretation of mutashabih hadiths
