Abstract (EN)

Seyfe Lake locates in a tectonic origin basin in Middle Redriver (Kızılırmak) Section of Middle Anatolia (39°13'N - 34°23'E). Seyfe Lake was determined as a first class bird resort by International Waterbird Census. Lake was declared as First Degree Natural Protected Area in 17.08.1989, as Nature Protection Area in 26.08.1990 and as Ramsar Site in 17.05.1994.Surveys proved to birds come to lake because of lay and feed to little fishes, algeaes, zooplanctons and benthic organisms of lake. Waterbirds are the most important species of lake. There are any fish in the lake cause of the lake?s water is salty and sodic.Statistical climate analyses from 1930 till now showed that rains decreased and temperatures raised clearly especially last decade in the lake and surround which has typical Middle Anatolian Terrestrial Climate especially last ten years. The field propossesioned to intense drought between 2002 and 2008.Subsurface water level decreased with the drying of lake (except of base). Wells?s depths are 300 meter in some parts. With the planctons?s (primer productor in the lake) decrease, lake?s life runs a risk. Meadow vegetation surround the lake starts to extinct because of drought, pure steppe and halophytic vegetation are negatively affected by field damaged. Bird diversity sharply decreased cause of drought. Bird diversity also relocated from water birds to shore birds because of lake?s properties changed. Following the drought of the lake, the dust wath from lake floor rised up with winds and falled down to agricultural areas, also local people had severe health problems with breathing to this salt. Related to drought of the lake, agricultural fertility decreased, this situation caused to cost of living and resulted to rise up of out-migration.
