Climate crisis, employment and the attitudes of trade unions

One of the most important issues on the world agenda is climate change. As the climate changes, planet Earth warms up and natural disasters increase. As a result, oneof the main arguments of this study is that workers become unproductive, are exposed to occupational diseases and have to work in more unhealthy and unsafe environments. In addition, the dominant factor causing climate change is the carbon released by human influence since the industrial revolution, and with the global climate regime that has been created by international/supranational structures for decades, measures such as reducing the emissions that cause the climate crisis and adapting to the changing climate are being taken. These measures include envisaging the closure of some sectors as well as making all sectors greener. In the new world that is being created by the climate crisis and policies of people working in both private and public sectors, their futures are at risk as they lose their jobs and their current jobs become greener. In this text, key issues such as those responsible for the situation, ethical perspective, and financing problems are examined. In this study, this important problem, which comprehends nature and the human species that are a part of it, is addressed in its more partial but vital dimension, such as its effects on the workforce. We have studied, there is also the claim that Turkey, which has had to adapt to the global climate regime, which was started with the premise that it was created by the central capitalist countries, has to carry out and manage the process not only as "Green Transformation" but also from the perspective of "Just Transition". This claim was put forward not only in the light of the information obtained from the texts, but also in the light of one-on-one interviews with representatives of organized labor unions in the mining and energy branches. In addition to the international climate regime created as a result of mainstream views, the critical green-left view is also included in the world agenda and found its place in the thesis.
