The ideas of classrom teachers about the performance of sound based sentence method in teaching reading and writing

This research was performed to find out the ideas of classroom teachers working in primary schools about the performance of sound based sentence method in teaching reading and writing.The sample of this research constitute 127 first grade teachers working in İstanbul?s Kadıköy and Üsküdar districts in different 25 primary schools, 2006-2007 education and teaching year. To explain datas concluded from the research, classroom teachers were carried out a poll with 29 questions. The results of the research was interpreted by using percentage, frequency value, Mann- Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test.At the end of this research it was found out during the performance of sound based sentence method that the power of understanding of female and male teachers and their ability of adjacent italic writing resemble each other, it doesn?t make any difference teacher?s attending 1st grade in classroom teacher?s performance of sound based sentence method in teaching reading and writing, teachers taking courses for the performance of sound based sentence teaching were satisfied with the courses, teachers whose students learnt reading and writing in december-january(1.term) and the other teachers whose students learnt reading and writing in February-March(2.term) have the opinion that there is a relationship between sound based sentence method and teaching reading and writing.Furthermore it was understood that teachers shortened the amount of the time to teach reading and writing with sound based sentence method, students had a slight difficulty in adjacent italic writing in crowded classrooms, the students were thought to be more creative in classrooms with 30-39 and 40-49 students, less creative in classrooms with students more than 50 and less than 30.Key Words : Classroom Teacher, Sound based sentence method,İtalic, Adjacent, Hand writing, Primary school, Sound,The first reading and writing.
