Teachers? opinions on 5th class students? useing communication skills in Turkish class

The aim of this study is to evaluate teachers? views about 5th grade primary school students? use of communication skills in Turkish classes.Today, as seen in other fields, advances and developments have made the field of education reconsider and arrange needed information and skills; highlight and improve teaching programmes based on contemporary learning theories. Within the framework of these programme developments, instead of passive learner and active teacher approaches, learner centered approaches in which the teacher arranges the learning environment and is just an operator have been taken into consideration. Therefore, students? acquisition of the skills is important in constructivist system and in objectives, obtained skills are taken into account during lessons.Turkish programmes aim to improve inter-textual thinking, comprehension, sorting, classifying, querying, networking, matching, analysis-synthesis and evaluation of mental skills as well as basic skills like listening, speaking, reading, writing, visual reading and visual presentations.As social beings, people need to live together and are verbally or nonverbally in relationships for various reasons and communicate with each other in accordance with their purposes. Therefore, communication can be defined as producing knowledge, transferring and giving meaning to it. This communication between people cannot be prevented in any case. Communication in the society begins at primary school level.In this study, students? using their communication skills in Turkish lessons to what extent was examined according to teachers? opinions.In this study, it was attained that teachers agree with the indication of students? not using the communication skills in Turkish classes effectively.In this study, data were obtained through a questionnaire developed by the researcher. The reliability and validity of these survey questions have been proven by an expert. SPSS 16 programme have been used for this study. T-test, anova frequency, percentage, posthoc LCD tests have been used in the analysis.Keywords: Communication, Communication Skills, Turkish Classes
