Abstract (EN)

In this study, novice Science and Classroom Teachers' social skills and problem solving skills were compared. Paradigm of the research is consists of 245 candidate teachers who studied at Elazığ Fırat University Education Faculty in 2008-2009.It was found that there was a significant difference in terms of gender of candidate teachers between the social skills in dimension of emotional control, emotional expressionism and social sensitivity. In the respect of emotional expressionism, female candidate teacher obtained higher scores than male candidate teachers. On the other hand, male candidate teacher got higher scores in terms of emotional control aspect. according to the SS, female students gained higher scores than male students. It wasn't found significant differences among the candidate teachers in terms of department and age in inferior aspect of social skills. It was found that there was a significant difference in terms of mother educational status but this significant difference wasn't seen in respect of father educational status. The students who have mothers having better educational status obtained higher scores in emotioanl expressionism and social kontrol.There wasn't significant difference in terms of department, age and sex for problem solving skill. There wasn't significant difference in aspect of mother educational status while this educational status in the favour of the students whose father studied unversity.Key words: Candidate teacher, problem solving skills, social skills.
