Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the impact of geometric forms used in the spatial drawings of 4th and 5th-grade primary school students on their modes of expression. Conducted in Istanbul, the study involved having students draw spatial images, which were then analyzed for the geometric shapes used. The research revealed that students frequently used basic geometric shapes such as squares, rectangles, and circles in their drawings. These shapes play a significant role in simplifying and concretizing children's spatial perceptions. Additionally, as age and grade level increase, the complexity of the geometric forms used also increases. The findings indicate that geometric shapes have positive effects on students' artistic expression abilities and spatial perceptions. It is recommended that educators organize activities that encourage the use of various geometric shapes to support students' artistic development. The importance of geometric forms in art education should be emphasized, and future research should focus on different age groups and educational levels for a more detailed examination.
