The views of the instructors and administrators about the violence and its reasons in primary schools (The example for Küçükçekmece province, İstanbul)

This study was performed in order to analyze the violence and instructor-administrator approaches in the primary schools.The instructors and administrators working in the public schools in Istanbul Province, Küçükçekmece Town form the population of the research and 350 instructors and 130 administrators working in the 45 public schools and who were selected through simple random sampling method among the 62 primary schools exist in Istanbul Province, Küçükçekmece Town form the sample.While performing the research descriptive survey method has been applied. The general resources and literature emphasize the violence and the reasons of it and analyzing the violence accidents in the primary schools have been reviewed. Collecting of the data was performed by means of preparing surveys in order to make analyze of the instructor and administrator approaches.When the results achieved from the findings related with the instructors/administrators? being faced with violence accidents are evaluated, we see at general results that the male instructors/administrators face with violence much more than the female instructors/administrators do and this result is remarkable.When the evaluation is performed regarding the position in the school, it is remarkable that the administrators face with the violence accidents more than the instructors and when this evaluation is performed regarding the ages of instructors/administrators, the instructors at 25 years old and younger age face with violence less than the instructors group of 26-35 years old and more than 45 years old group of instructors/administrators. In addition to this, it is seen that professional seniority of the instructors/administrators does not affect the frequency of being faced with violence so much.There is not much difference between the opinions of male instructors/administrators and female instructors/administrators regarding the general results over the violence reasons. When the results are evaluated by taking into consideration of their positions at the school, it is realized that there is not much difference between the opinions of instructors and administrators regarding the violence reasons. Also it is seen that there is not much difference between the opinions of instructors/administrators regarding the violence reasons when we take into consideration of their ages. Besides, the opinions of the instructors/administrators about the violence reasons regarding their professional seniority and it is seen as the result that the opinions of the instructors/administrators over violence who have professional seniority of 5 years and less than it and between 6-10 years seniority are more rigid.The study was performed in order to clarify and analyze the definitions and concepts of violence, studies related with school and violence, approaches, dimensions and sources of violence, regulations made against violence, violence at primary schools and approaches of instructors and administrators regarding this issue and evaluation of the data of the application and research and results of it were explained in the ?Conclusion and Discussion? section.Key Words: Primary School, Violence, Approach Related with Violence, Administrator, Instructor, Student.
