The evaluation of the relation between perfection sense and professional attitude of elementary school teachers

Perfection is defined as ?One?s belief to successfully achievement capacity of itself to organize the required efficiency to show a definite performance?. In this study, the relation between teachers? sense of perfection and their professional attitude investigated and evaluation of the relation within other variables.The relation between teachers? sense of perfection and their attitude to their profession investigated within the factors such as gender, age, marital status, educational status, seniority, the existence period of his/her at last school. The research group consists from 292 teachers as 152 female (%52,1) and 140 male (%47,9).Study is limited to main districts at European part of Istanbul (Beşiktaş, Kağıthane, Sarıyer, Şişli). To determine the perfection expectation levels, teacher perfection scale that was previously developed and experienced by several researchers and re-developed by Tschannen-Moran and Woolfolk-Hoy (2001) translated to Turkish by Baloğlu and Karadağ (2008) and attitude to profession scale that was developed by Üstüner (2006) were executed.The results showed that the relation between teachers? sense of perfection and their attitude to their profession is 16% and remarkably significant. According to our results the relation level between teachers? sense of perfection and their attitude to their profession is low. While gender and educational status of teachers are not directly efficient over perfection sense of teachers? age, marital status, seniority and the existence period of his/her at last school has direct effect. The achieved results were discussed within related studies and finally the suggestions for following studies were presented.
