Expectations of primary school parents from school administrators on social responsibility duty

All humans are social and each individual always needs one another. Humans, in need of each other both physically and psychologically to establish and maintain societies, meet this need by establishing various institutions. One of those institutions in society is the school. One of the duties of the schools is the duty of social responsibility works as well as education-teaching duty. School fulfills the mutual needs of people by various activities. Schools perform this mission by various activities such as environment cleanup, information related to health, socializing activities, art and sport activities, seminars and conferences on various subjects. The key role to carry out these works at school belongs to education administrator.In this study, it is aimed to research the expectations of primary school parents from school administration related to social responsibility duty in accordance with independent variablesof parents participated in this research. In this respect; 474 randomly chosen parents whose children have education in primary schools of BağcılarDistrict Directorate of National Education participated in the research. A questionnaire prepared by researchers and consented by expert view is used in the research. Obtained data are analyzed by using appropriate statistical techniques in SPSS-16 statistics program.Considering obtained results; it is seen that there are meaningful differences according to the independent variables (gender, marital status, relationship with the student, frequency of school visits and education status) except age variable of parents. According to the findings; parents expect a fair administration and trust the most and entertaining activities the least from school administration in terms of social responsibility. Finally findings are discussed and various suggestions are given in terms of findings.Key Words: Social Responsibility, School Administrator, Parents
