Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to examine the visual and linguistic texts in the primary school Turkish textbooks according to the children's relevance principle. In this respect, scanning model is used in this study, and the data are obtained through document analysis. Document analyzes are obtained by examining 12 visual and linguistic texts in the primary school textbook, "Turkish 1". In a more clear way, each linguistic and visual text are coded at the level of words, phrases and sentences within the context of subject, message (main idea), theme (theme), character, language and expression, visual text features, teaching and memory, fear and anxiety, advice and order, gender discrimination, ideological discourses, traditional values, sanctioning judgments and rules, a rosy world, single and unchangeable truths, exaggerated curiosity and extreme emotional elements, and violent features. These determined codes are categorized through content analysis in accordance with content features and educational principles. Thus, the content features and universal principles in the linguistic and visual texts that are the subject of the study are determined. As a result; it has been revealed that the texts in the examined textbook are not suitable for the children.
