Expectations of parents, whose children are studies iin primary schools, from teachers

The purpose of this study is to strengthen the cooperation between teacher-parent, school-family by taking advantage of views of parents whose children are educated in the school and offering solution suggestions for more effective education after specifying attained troubles, by determining the types of expectations of parents from class teacher. In this study, with the method of qualitative research, in 2013-2014 educational year, 30 participant from 12 different schools in Kadıköy and Ümraniye were applied for a half-structured feedback form which was developed by the researcher and obtained data was interpreted by using qualitative data analyze techniques, analyzing the content and describing the findings. Participants for this study consist of 15 male and 15 female parents. Ages and jobs of participants are different from each other. In the study, maximum diversity state sampling which is a type of suitable sampling method has been applied. We can sum up the results, reached in a consequence of analyzing obtained data, as followings; Patents think that the teachers should have a good communication with students, consider their students like their own children, be understanding, tolerant and patient. Teachers should improve themselves avocationally and follow the innovations . Class teachers should be a suitable role model for students in all areas. Patents believe that they should be shared their students level of achievements and behaviors, and they demand to take part in educational activities. They also expect that they are guided by teachers properly for their children's academic achievements. In addition they want to have interviews with the teacher when there is a necessary without regarding the time. They also believe that teacher-parent communication should be in an empathetic, a good-humored, a respectful and an understanding way . Besides; they expect that they should be able to make contact with the teachers both periodically and any times. Parents care about behaviors of their children more than their academic achievement. They expect from teachers that they should educate the students especially in terms of spiritual values and they should be a model for them. Parents express that they find it important that children should attend socio-cultural activities in terms of improving their achievements and behaviors. Paren ts expect that teachers should motivate both students and them in the area of educatio. For that purpose, these result that parents expect from teacher they should visit the students, they should make necessary guidance and motivation studies, recommend educational books contribute gaining the habit of reading both for and them, have been come through.
