Abstract (EN)

Turkey has experienced intensive migration, especially in recent years, and this migration has significantly affected many areas. One of these areas is education. In 2011, with the outbreak of the Syrian Civil War, a large number of Syrians came to Turkey. At first, education was not seen as a priority as it was thought that Syrian people coming to Turkey would not stay for a long time. However, as time progressed, it was realized that there was a serious need to overcome the educational deficiencies of people coming from Syria. To meet this need, Syrian children were placed in classrooms with their peers. The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences related to the dimensions of classroom management in primary school classrooms with Syrian students. In this study, phenomenology, which is a qualitative research design, was used. Teachers working as classroom teachers in primary schools in Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş province constitute the participants of the study. Research data were collected using semi-structured interview forms. The data obtained were analyzed with descriptive analysis method. According to the findings of the study, it was determined that there were problems such as lack of physical materials for language learning, lack of cleaning habits and lack of school materials in classrooms with Syrian students. Since Syrian students do not have a good command of the Turkish language, it was concluded that their in-class communication with the classroom teachers caused a lot of time loss. It was found that there were problems in the completion and implementation of teaching plans due to the different academic levels of Syrian students and other students and Syrian students' inability to master the Turkish language. It was stated that Syrian students exhibit introverted behaviors due to language barriers and their relations with their friends do not improve. It was determined that Syrian students exhibit undesirable behaviors and it was stated that school-parent-guidance service cooperation should work together on undesirable behaviors. According to the findings of the research, classroom teachers stated that Syrian students coming to school with a good command of Turkish language would solve many of the problems.
