ABSTRACT THE INTERACTION BETWEEN PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL IN HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT AND EMPOWERMENT YASİT, Meltem M.A. Thesis, Department of Business Administration Supervisor : Prof. Dr. Gülten Eren Gümüştekin June, 2014, 145 pages In recent years, it has been very important to use effectively human resources for keeping pace with competitive work environment and hitting organization targets. At this point, performance appraisal and empowerment is considered as concepts drawing attention on the highest level between modern organization and organizational practise. The aim of this study is to determine interaction between performance appraisal as a function of human resources management and empowerment. In theoretical part of study, the concepts of empowerment and performance appraisal are tried to explain in detail. Moreover, the relation between these two concepts is examined. In application of this study, as the data collection method has been used the questionnaire. The sample is composed of 101 employees who are employed at different levels of an organization that operates in Bursa. After distributing and gathering relevant questionners, the results are analyzed by SPSS for Windows 15.0. As a result, a positive relation has been found between performance appraisal as a function of human resources management and empowerment Keywords: Human Resources Management, Performance Appraisal, Empowerment
