Abstract (EN)

This study analyzes the Netflix Turkey original series Atiye (The Gift) (2019 2021), Hakan: Muhafız (The Protector) (2018-2020), and Şahmaran (2023-2024) within a mythological context using the method of intertextuality. The thesis examines how mythological elements are utilized and adapted in contemporary Turkish TV productions and aims to reveal how these mythological images are shaped through narratives and characters. Furthermore, it explores how these elements are integrated into modern storytelling through intertextual references. Using an intertextual approach, the study analyzes the relationship between the mythological references in the series and ancient myths, their reinterpretation, and their thematic role within the narrative. In Atiye, the myth of ancient knowledge centered around Göbeklitepe is examined; in Hakan: Muhafız, the myths of immortality and the guardian hero of Istanbul are explored; and in Şahmaran, the symbolic connection between humanity and nature and the legend of Şahmaran are discussed. These mythological components are reinterpreted through modern narrative structures, contributing to the formation of contemporary mythmaking within the digital media landscape. Keywords: Mythology, Intertextuality, Web series, Mythological Imagination
