Business school students from continuing and discontinued educable comparison of social skills level

Social skills which are the part of daily life are the indispensible requirement of being human and being with other people. As a social being, human have social skills. These social skills basically are to be in harmony with others, to respect the rights of others, to know how to act, to establish close relationships with others, and to act with others together. But, because of many reasons, many people can?t develop these social skills. For example, having mental disability has a negative effect on developing social skills. On the other hand, it is possible that the human who has the mental disability can gain social skills by the extent of their own capabilities with different training programs. In this research, it is aimed that human with intellectual disabilities who continue or not continue their business school are examined the social skills. In addition, according to various independent variables, the social skills of individuals with mental retardation are discussed. These variables are gender, age, parents' survival status, parents' educational level, parents' employment status, income level of the family per capita, and number of siblings. The data is collected by "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher and "School Social Behavior Scale" developed by Kenneth W. Merrell. A total of 200 individuals with intellectual disabilities, 100 hundred of them continue to business school and others don?t continue to business school, are chosen randomly to generate the study sample. According to the findings;It is observed that social skills of individuals with intellectual disabilities who continue the business school are significantly higher than social skills of individuals with intellectual disabilities who don?t continue the business school and when number of sibling?s increases and parent's level of education decreases, the social skills observes much more. Some variables can?t affect the social skills of individuals with mental disabilities. These variables are gender, age, family income, parents' presence or absence of life, and parents' employment status. The findings are discussed and recommendations are made according to literature and other studies. Key Words: Social Skills, Intellectual Disabilities, Business School
