The factors affecting the job satisfaction: The case of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Cemetery Department

Local governments are one of the most important public institutions for meeting the needs of the city and facilitating social life. There has been an increase in the cemetery and funeral services in Istanbul due to the high population density and the concentration of the central area, and this situation has turned into a necessity. In addition to obtaining various data as a result of the studies carried out in the field of job satisfaction, it has been observed that it plays an important role in raising the bar for success in group work and increasing productivity in social life. At the same time, it plays an important role in observing the work conditions of the employees, controlling their mental and physical conditions, and revealing their expectations and wishes. In our study, the factors affecting the job satisfaction of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Cemeteries Department personnel were measured and the job satisfaction in today's conditions, the relationship with the manager, the determination of the problems and the production of solutions were emphasized. For this purpose, the Minnesota job satisfaction questionnaire was applied to 125 officers in the institution. Using collected data set, exploratory factor analysis is conducted to extract the dimensions of job satisfaction. The relationships between selected demographic variables and the calculated factor scores are analyzed via independent sample t-test and ANOVA.
