The Spread of Islam in Somalia

After Mecca, Somalia is one of the first stops of Islamic religion. The Ilamization of Somalia started with the first Abyssinian Hijra, and this has gone through different stages. Islam in Somalia started by the Prophet Companion who immigrated from Mecca to Ethiopia and continued with the Muslims who came to the Somali coasts as immigrants. The Islamic reigns that began to be established on the Abyssinian during the tenth century have played an important role in spreading Islam to the region. After the time of the four Caliphates, Muslims fled from the Fitna wars have greatly contributed to the spread of Islam into the inner parts of Somalia.
