Abstract (EN)
In order to create a common language in international trade and financial reporting, IAS/IFRS enables businesses to create their financial reports within the framework of a common language, enabling them to be analyzed more easily by users. The TMS 2 Stock Standard, created for this purpose, explains how the inventories of enterprises can be evaluated as expenses and how the costs of these inventories can be calculated, and it explains how the inventory costs can be determined according to the net realizable value and recorded as an expense. In this thesis, it is explained how the inventories of the enterprises are calculated as expenses within the scope of TMS 2 Inventories Standard, with which methods the costs of the inventories can be calculated and how they are accounted as a result of these calculations. In addition, net realizable value, which is of primary importance within the scope of the standard, is discussed and examined. In the research part of the thesis, the financial statements of the companies outside the Finance Sector in the BIST 50 Index for the years 2016 - 2020 were examined. As a result of the valuation studies that the businesses within the scope of the study have to make every year within the scope of TAS 2, the statements they have made have been analyzed. By determining the explanations that the enterprises should make in accordance with the standard, it was examined which explanations the enterprises made. As a result of the study, it has been determined that businesses have given more space to the explanations they have to make within the scope of the stocks standard over the years.
