Evalution of the circumtances that forcing businesses to use enterprise resource planning

The enterprise resource planning software attempts to integrate all functions in different departments onto a single computer system and also to provide shareing same database by all departments in the company. Thanks to thisway, all data, needed by different departments, can be served on the same database. In classical way the departments seperately has its own computer system, free from other departments. But enterprise resource planning combines different depatments together into a single, integrated software program that runs off a single database. So, various departments in company can easily share information and communicate with each other. On fastly globalising world geographical borders are losing its importance because of competition. This necessitate businesses to follow sectorel and technolojic developments closely in order to decide quickly and correct to provide competitive advantages. This necessity increasingly clarified day by day. As a result of this, parallelly to the quick development of technology, a range improvements noticed on information technologies. Thus, management information systems generated and had been used on many businesses. On our developing country, to increase competative advantages on local and international markets and to get a place on this environment, our businesses must use Enterprise Resource Planning. On this study its importance is explained with necessary causes. It is clear that in future this high-costing software will effect the success of businesses. Concordantly; I believe that this study that is about enterprise resource planning which is used in businesses and have serious value adding potential to the businesses will come in useful for country economy, academic field and national literature. On study, description of enterprise resource planning, its content, reason for businesses to use enterprise resource planning, its costing, critics about it emphasised and detailed. Study is done with 132 sample and demographic structure of businesses, their expectation from enterprise resource planning and their enterprise resource planning based problems analysed. Stuff number, using period of enterprise resource planning, user quantity and its benefits are analyzed and relations obtained. After enterprise resource planning importance of expectations about efficient resourse usage, there are problems about adaptation to the business and workers, no high-level problem occured on management of system results are obtained and these results are studied with stuff quantity, working period and user quantity by the benefits and differences, also research results specified with charts and graphics.Key Words: Enterprise Resource Planning, Production, Software, İtems,Performance
