Abstract (EN)

With the developments experienced with the industrial revolution, environmental problems have become a serious issue. Human health and ecological balance are endangered with the destructions. Many environmental problems such as rapid consumption of natural resources, climate changes, insufficient resources, unplanned urbanization and deforestation have begun to occur. Since the second half of the 20th century, the concepts of sustainability and sustainable development have emerged in order to repair the damage on behalf of present and future generations. According to the researches, it is known that a large part of the energy consumed in the world belongs to the construction sector. However, sustainable architecture has become an important issue. Every measure to reduce the consumption of energy used in buildings is very important in terms of improving living conditions. It is not caused by the industrial revolution. It is a structure that consumes more resources than normal structures, from high design to production and use processes. Housed in a massively large population in its tall design, it is used to create additional structures and hence loads more into the structures. Efforts should be made to build high rise buildings, which are inevitable due to the shortage of square meters, with the least damage to the environment. More consideration is given to conceptual usage patterns in these building types. When it comes to sustainable high-rise buildings, it should come to mind as structures that are sensitive to resource use, do not cause environmental pollution, and contribute to the health and comfort of users in every period of their existence. While considering today's social needs, practices that are carried out by correct and conscious planning without harming future generations and nature are among the goals of sustainability. In this study, the concept of sustainability, sustainable architectural principles and sustainable high-rise office buildings were defined, and within the framework of these principles, high-rise office buildings that are important for sustainability in the world were examined. LEED certified sustainable high-rise office buildings located on the axis of Maslak Levent in Istanbul were determined, literature research was conducted and the scorecards of the buildings were compared. It is aimed that the sustainable high-rise office buildings examined within the scope of the study will be an example for the structures with different functions and heights that have been built or will be built. It should not be forgotten that any application to be made in the name of sustainability is of vital importance for future generations.
