Occupational health and safety applications in Istanbul metro stations

A lot of people living in crowded cities around the world choose somewhere along the road where they according to their own conditions from highway, airway, sea or railway transportation. Roadway, airway, railway and seaway is choose in suburban journey respectively in Turkey. This subject is changing in city trasportation in Istanbul. It becomes; railway, roadway and seaway in metropol city Istanbul. As it understand from this information the most important thing is inner-rail systems. Among the inner-rail systems the most crowded carrying capacity belongs to metro. This prefferring means personal crowded at the same time means many accidents. In this thesis studying, in oder to transport people from one place to another in Istanbul metro station in the most reliable way, basic safety measures and operational safety, measures taken against specific situations will be explained by considering the movement flow of the passenger during operations. If the accidents will be considered like entrance of the passengers to station and peron walk in to the peron, sit down on the peron, wait for the train, board into train, etc. There are safety measures can be taken like; emergency action plan , fire detection and control systems, protecting the fire systems, drainage systems, ventilation systems, electrical and optical systems, PSD ( Peron Screen Door), PESB/CESB, emergency exit doors, warning plates etc.
