Abstract (EN)

As is known, the political environment in Turkey in the early 1950s changed so radically. This change has affected the cultural, artistic and literary environments as well as many other areas of society. For example, with the beginning of the multi-party era, it can be stated that polyphony has developed in art and literature. Especially, many magazines published by the young people enrich this environment. However, many of the magazines are closing in a short time. In such an environment, it attracts attention in the world of literature and ideas with its large staff led by Mehmet Kaplan, the İstanbul Sanat ve Edebiyat magazine. The names such as Mümtaz Turhan, İbrahim Kafesoğlu, Ahmet Kutsi Tecer, Sait Faik Abasıyanık, Âsaf Hâlet Çelebi and Tarık Buğra have a share in the quality of the magazine. However, it is seen that the journal has been overlooked in the academic environment. From November 1953 to February 1957, İstanbul Sanat ve Edebiyat continued with thirty-eight points. In this period, he tries to bring an alternative to the idea of unconditional Westernization which the country is influenced in almost every field. Not only does it propose the idea that can be expressed as a Turkish-Islamic-Western synthesis. In this way, İstanbul Sanat ve Edebiyat magazine, Turkey's modernization process in question live tracks seen in the period after the Republic of theory, renovated and offers an example worth checking out. Keywords: İstanbul Sanat ve Edebiyat, Mehmet Kaplan, Mümtaz Turhan, literature in the 1950s, Turgut Atasoy
