Investigation of model waste from a product-service system perspective in Faculty of Architecture of Istanbul Technical University

This research aims to investigate of model waste from a Product-Service System perspective in Faculty of Architecture of İstanbul Technical University. To gain an understanding of benefits of Product-Service System for sustainability and concept of Product-Service System, a wide range of literature concerning benefits, concept, methods and cases of Product-Service System was critically studied. To analyze existing model waste of Faculty of Architecture of İstanbul Technical University, observation, questionnaire and interviews were done. Questionnaire was done with students to learn which type model making products are bought, how long time these materials are used and what the students do these materials after end of use and students' needs and requests. Questionnaire was applied to students of Department of Industrial Product Design, Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture, Interior Architecture and Landscape Architecture of Faculty of Architecture of İstanbul Technical University by online. The numbers of participants of questionnaire are 275. Semi-structured interviews were done to get information about existing process of using and disposal of model making products; advantages and disadvantages of the existing process in point of sustainability and also investigate how a Product-Service System can be applied for using and disposal of model making products for sustainability. Semi-structured interviews were done with Head of Department at Department of Industrial Product Design, Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Architecture and also Secretary of Faculty of Architecture of İstanbul Technical University.
