Opinions and suggestions of employers about employment of people with mental retardation

The main purpose of this study is to estimate the opinions and suggestions of employers about employment of people with mental retardation. This study was realized by Nilüfer Professional Education Centre which is connected with National Education of Bursa Province and it has been worked with 20 employers in the place of people with mental retardation which they were settled up to year 2002- 2003. This study is a descriptive working in order to determine the situation. In this study the data have been collected by the technique of semi-structured interview among the qualitative search techniques. Study data of opinions and suggestions of employers about employment of people with mental retardation have been collected by "interview form". Data which have been gathered in the study have been expressed in the manner of frequency and percentage. The study results indicate that employers want responsibility, technology, harmony, team working, communication, and sufficiency in academic subjects in employment of mentally retarded people. In addition it must be increased of mentally retarded people's experience about the work and working place, prepared for the work, and dwelled upon informing society and families.VI At the end of the study, it has been put forward according to employers opinions whichever sufficiency is cared of mentally retarded people's employment, whichever education services that are offered to individuals are heavily dwelled upon.
